Founder - Scientific Director

Kalliopi Gkouskou graduated from the Department of Biology at the University of Crete in 2001
with distinction and obtained a postgraduate degree in "Molecular Biology and Biomedicine"
from the same university in 2003.She further completed her doctoral thesis at the Institute of
Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research and Technology (IMBB-
FORTH), focusing on the mechanisms of genetic regulation and the utilization of this knowledge
in rare genetic diseases. She continued her training as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of
Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and later at the Medical School of the University of Crete
in chromosomal analysis methods, clinical cytogenetics, and genetic technologies.

Having acquired a strong research background, in 2013 she founded the company
Embiodiagnostics Ltd., focusing on genetic and predispositional genomics, with an emphasis on
polygenic diseases such as obesity, thrombophilia, and type II diabetes. In recent years, she has
been invited to speak at scientific conferences and has published articles in high-impact scientific
journals.

Since 2017, she has also been an academic fellow at the Biology Laboratory of the Medical
School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
